Where are the guidelines that IRC is following for safe operation?

The county is continually updating the rules for pools, so check our COVID-19 Safety tab before you come to the pool! As we already know, social distancing is paramount, as well as frequent hand washing and staying home if you don’t feel well.  As the county updates its regulations and as they are hopefully relaxed, we will also continue to adjust our operations but we will keep focused on critical safety practices.

What if I see something I'm not comfortable with?

For anything immediate, please notify the lifeguard staff.  Please remember that we are all in this together and we are working to create a transparent scheduling mechanism and improved procedures for enjoying the club. For any questions around policies, procedures, enhancements, please send an email to: info@invernessrecreation.org

Will the ice cream man visit the pool?

Our ice cream vendor has a county permit to make stops at IRC and will do so periodically. Please be reminded to remain 6 feet apart when lining up.

Yes, beginning 7/2, there will be a limit of 10 reservations per registered family member (as listed on the current membership) per week. Your reservation allotment counts towards any reservation type: lap lane, open swim, early bird swim. Each individual member receives 10 reservations per week. The 7 day window begins on Sunday and ends on Saturday.

Please note that children 13 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Why was the capacity increased? (updated 7/17)

Effective 7/17 we will be increasing the open swim reservation capacity limits from 50 to 60 people for select sessions: most Weekend sessions and Weekday afternoon sessions. In reaching the decision to increase the capacity limits the Board weighed the increased demand for pool time with our ability to maintain social distancing and ensure that pool members continue to feel safe at the pool.  We believe increasing to a capacity limit of 60 for these times provides an appropriate balance and will not adversely impact safety.  We also considered increasing pool operating hours, but given the added costs and financial constraints we are under that was ruled out for now.

Can my 13 year old come by him/herself?(updated 7/17)

No. Children 13 years old and under must be supervised at the pool by an individual that is at least 16 years old.  Upon arrival at the pool, the supervising individual must confirm with the guard staff that they will be responsible for supervision of the child 13 years old or under.   The supervising individual is not required to be a family member of the individual they are supervising.   Social distancing must be maintained between the supervising individual and the child being supervised, if they are not from the same household, which includes having the supervising individual and child being supervised being located in separate pods and maintaining social distancing throughout the pool area.
