Unsupervised Children

Dear IRC Members,
We wanted to remind all members that children under the age of 10 must have proper adult supervision while at IRC.  This supervision applies to time during lessons, pre-team, swim practice, and all swim meets.  If another adult agrees to supervise your children while you are away from IRC, please make sure your child knows who is responsible for them in case they are needed.  You can also inform the guard staff who is watching your child. The guards may ask any child under 10 who is supervising them, if they appear to be unsupervised.

Our policy is as follows:

Unsupervised Children

If it is discovered that an adult has left a child under the age of 10 without proper supervision at the IRC facilities, the child will be removed from the pool deck area and will not be permitted to use the facilities until such time as a parent or other responsible adult returns and resumes supervision of the child. This includes the time period after the conclusion of swim team practice. If a child under the age of 10 is left at the IRC facility without proper adult supervision, the member will receive a warning from pool management. Repeated warnings for failure to supervise may result in suspension or revocation of membership.

Any child (even if over the age of 10) who, in the judgment of the lifeguards or pool management, threatens the safety or comfort of him/herself or other IRC members using the facility, may be asked to leave the premises.
