We are pleased to inform you that we are deep in preparation to open Inverness Recreation Club and anticipate a soft opening this Saturday, June 20 for single-use lap swim only— by reservation only. This will allow us to test run our new COVID-19 safety measures, check-in procedures, sanitation routine and brand new reservation system (more below). We are striving to keep our members and staff safe, so we appreciate your patience as we navigate all the regulations and how they apply to our pool.
What is a soft opening?
The soft opening will allow reservations for lap swimming only. Members will be able to reserve one of six lanes in 45 minute increments on the hour beginning noon to 6pm. According to County restrictions, only one person is allowed in the lap lane for that duration of time. A child 13 and under will require an adult present.
When will it be open swim?
After our soft opening, our next step will be to introduce open swim with reservable household pods or units where you can relax in your own reserved area, with confidence that you are properly socially distanced from other members.
How do I know what rules to follow?
The county is continually updating the rules for pools, so check our COVID-19 Safety tab before you come to the pool! As we already know, social distancing is paramount, as well as frequent hand washing and staying home if you don’t feel well. As the county updates its regulations and as they are hopefully relaxed, we will also continue to adjust our operations but we will keep focused on critical safety practices .
How do I make a reservation?
To ensure the safety of our members and regulating pool capacity, we are moving to a new reservation system. If you haven’t already, current 2020 members will receive an email from us (powered by Omnify) with a login username and password. The subject of the email will be: “Welcome to IRC’s Reservation System” (Please check your spam accounts). Current members can login to Omnify to reserve a lap lane as soon as they receive their login credentials. Please note, beginning June 20, only single-use lap lanes will be available for reservation until we release reservations for open swim and household pods. If you have questions about reservations, visit our Reservation FAQs.
I’m not a member yet, what should I do?
We need to process your membership and set you up in the new reservation system so here are approximate turnaround times to be able to make a pool reservation:
Complete and sign the membership form and submit it though one of these methods:
- Fastest (24 hour) turnaround: Email completed and signed form to IRCmembershipTeam@gmail.com and pay by credit card though our Member Login.
- 2-3 days turnaround: Email your membership form and drop off your membership form and fee at the pool during open hours.
- 4-5 days turnaround: Mail the membership form and check to P.O. Box 34285, Bethesda, MD 20827
Also, if your child(ren) are able to swim the length of the pool unassisted, don’t forget to sign up for swim team here.
We’re very excited to welcome you back. Enjoy the pool! #StaySafe
