Come Join Us for the 2017 Season!

There were times this winter that were so warm, we wanted to be at the pool! Then March hit and finally some snow, but it didn’t last long. Now it’s getting warmer and we are starting to think of the pool again. During the offseason, the IRC board was working hard to prepare the pool and tennis facilities for opening, plan our social calendar, and strengthen our membership. We think you’ll find that IRC is a great place to spend your summer!

You may notice that, with a later fall opening of County schools, this summer is longer (yay!). With longer hours, minimum wage going up again, and other labor cost issues, our lifeguard costs will go up quite a bit. The IRC board worked hard on our budget, and was able to minimize our dues increase. Our dues continue to be at or below nearby pools, and we don’t require a bond to maintain membership like others do. Dues are mostly used to fund our lifeguards and pool manager from Georgetown Aquatics, but also pay for landscaping and utilities. We also are funding repairs to the tennis courts in April, a new online membership and check-in system, and our vibrant calendar of social events and swim team functions. Joining early will help us with these costs.

This summer our slate of social gatherings still includes food trucks and pep rallies followed by adult socials on most Friday nights in June and July, raft nights, and other events like our famous 4th of July celebration. For those that enjoy some early morning swimming solitude, we will have early bird swim on the calendar.  The Nessies, our mighty swim team led by our returning Head Coach Hannah Bischoff, will be ready to take on our neighboring pools and registration is already open. Registration is also open for our popular tennis/swim summer camp as well.   If you would like to get involved in any of these activities, let us know.  We are always looking for folks to help.

Once again this year, we will be the first pool to kick off summer with our Sneak Peek Bring-a-Friend event on May 11th. New this year is our online membership system. Look for an email invitation within the next 2-3 weeks to setup your profile and membership. Before then, you can always turn in a completed paper form and payment or drop it by the pool during Sneak Peak or Open House to renew your membership. IRC provides a free guest pass for memberships paid in full by May 21st.

If you have any membership questions, please email them to membership@invernessrecreationclub.org. IRC also offers a $50 membership finder’s fee to existing members who bring in new members. Please have your new member note your full name with their check. IRC holds the right to determine if the finder’s fee is applicable. IRC does not charge any initiation or bond fee.

Socials

Cybel Wigle
The social committee is back with a full slate of activities! We’ll kick off the summer with our pool cookout, and continue with our adult socials and food trucks on Friday nights in June and July.

Of course we will have the awesome annual July 4th party, and also monthly raft nights in June and July. We will also cap the swim season with our back-to-school cookout at the end of August.

We’re always looking for additional volunteers to help during events, so let us know if you want to pitch in!

Pre-team members will be invited to participate in B meet kickboard races and are included in all team social events. Pre-team evening practices will be Mondays and Fridays June 5 – July 21 from 5:30-6 pm. The full calendar and other team information is posted now and will be kept up to date at www.nessies.org. Nessies, get ready for a great summer!
